Predator Hunts
Predator hunting is one of the best ways to keep your hunting skills honed
to a razor edge. Hunting the ultimate hunter of any area is always a test of
skill, knowledge and patience. Our predator hunts are one way that we try to
keep predation as low as we can on our ranches. We do not believe in the
use of chemical poisons. Poisons are to general and can have an impact on
the wildlife that we are trying to promote. We can legally hunt predators
during the day and at night. We can also harvest predators from a vehicle.
We use all sorts of tactics from traditional stands and bait piles, to using a
mouth or electronic call. It can be a real rush when coyotes come crashing
in on a distress call. There are currently no limits on predators in Texas, but
some of our ranches do have a few species that are limited to one or two
animals of that species. Of these species fox and Bobcats are the two most
common. We want to keep predators controlled not extinct. Coyotes are
never in short supply and we encourage you to hunt them hard. We are not
saying that the fox and cats are in low supply because they are not! They
just do not have the high reproduction rate of the coyote. In areas that they
are abundant, we will allow higher takes. These hunts are currently the only
hunts we allow to be "Simi" Guided. Fully guided are available.
